Seeing that I will have all of that extra time I mentioned yesterday, I think I may actually complete this challenge.
Since we’ve moved, my children will no longer be going to school directly across the street from home. Making my usual a.m. wardrobe of jeans, pajama top and jacket out of the question. Let’s not argue about whether or not it was always out of the question. To this end, I am going to try to put myself together a little better this fall and winter, for a boost for myself and to ensure that I don’t embarrass my children (this would be hard, they are very lovely children).
My recent fabric order (and stash) is pretty much what I wanted for my fall palette (olive, charcoal and black, cream, dark denim, and silky prints and solids), so this challenge is right on time for me.
Click through to flickr for fabric notes and sewing pans.
I won’t be waiting for the challenge to officially start, as I am chomping at the bit to try these two patterns I’ve just bought. I think they represent the general direction I hope my wardrobe’s going in.
I sat a HUGE bag of unworn and too small shoes out before we moved, so I’ve been in the process of replacing them with more care so that I will wear what I have. I also need to clean out my pattern stash. Sale and impulse purchases, much like with the old shoes, have left me with things know I will never use. Watch this space for some giveaways.
Post Hurricane Irene I am tired from staying up all nearly all night for the last three days. I slept most of the day today thanks to hubby’s unexpected day off, but I am still weary from the state of worry I was in. I am glad that we were prepared, even though it turned out to have been unneccessary. Better safe than sorry.
I have so much to update here. A few home improvement projects to feather our new nest. Our little party to celebrate our move. Two A’s for my summer school efforts. Some little sewing here and there. And new fabric, which I always love. I’ve been in a bit of a weird mood lately. I’m not too sure what it’s all about. But I have so much to be happy and hopeful about. I try to focus on that.
In less than two weeks, all of my children will be in school for the first time. The time this affords me seems like something out of a dream. I can hardly decide what I should do with myself. I’ve been applying for part-time library positions, no success so far. It’s a competitive field and I lack experience. Tis no matter. I’m sure I can find something to fill my days with.
I’ll be back soon. Well rested and with photos.
Today is my hubby’s bday. He is a hardcore Apple fan, a little hard to shop for (he has most of the things he wants already) and I never make him anything. so this was perfect thing! I think he really liked it, he was impressed with my apples anyway ;o)
I got the idea from here, but I thought a pillow for our bed would work better than a mini quilt.
I used an old pale gray button up shirt for the apples. I traced the image from the box our computer came in. They’re handstitched on. The herringbone fabric is from a thrifted shirt. I used it previously on Frida’s skirt. The black was actually bought with a hubby pillow in mind, it was just a few years ago that I meant to do it ;o)
Better late than never! Now about that shirt I owe him…..
