MMM.D3 :: Live & IN Color

I’m sure I won’t keep up with posting daily. But I had to share my lack of B&W today, lol

MMM.D3 :: Live & IN Color

I spent some time taking this dress in, last night. It’s still much looser than my average fit, but I was super comfy and I LOVE this fabric!!

Wanna know something cool about today?? A reader recognized me!!
HI, if you’re reading this!!
You made my day!

MMM.D3 :: Live & IN Color

Something else cool and sewing related- a nearby(-ish) store is going out of business and I got 10 yards of horsehair braid for $4!

That price totally makes up for the cashier packing it like this.
Notions Shopping :: Horse hair Braid
I soon got it in order.

I also picked up some thread and hem tape.

And you can bet your ass that I’m going back for more!

Black & White & Denim

EDITED TO ADD: CLEARLY, I need a calendar. Iz not May, today.

MMMD1 :: Black & White & Denim

I wore this to my little kiddies music recital where, for a reason yet to be discovered, my oldest son didn’t get to play ;( Needless to say, I will get to the bottom of things and work out a replacement for his missed opportunity. The girl twin played parts of the Hot Cross Buns piano performance and the boy twin sang along with the rest of grade K. The overall event was really nice. The kids played and sang so well. I hate that it was ruined by whatever mix up resulted in some being left out.

I don’t want to feel too down. I had a great day yesterday (more awesome internship stuff) and I have to show them that little setbacks aren’t the end of the world. Right?

Anyway, this is what I wore:

MMMD1 :: Black & White & Denim
Top :: Burda Style’s Lydia
Skirt :: The Janice Skirt (modified Simplicity 9823)
Socks & Tights :: F21 & H&M
Boots :: Anne Klein

This fun pic was taken inside the school where the recital was held. I wish I had taken more as this one was a bit blurry.

This sucky ass weather is threatening to throw off my MMM game. I need to work on making pants, if only to stay in the game! Lol.

Kermit-y Day

There was someone feeling green in my family. I spoke too soon about that stomach bug being gone. Son#1 stayed home today. He beat the record for most up-chucks in a day :(

This is dressing for slightly bloated comfort ;o)

This look was also comfy for a quick garment district run to Pacific Trimming for Archer buttons.
Bought #buttons for my #Archer shirt from pacific Trimming. Two choices. Will they motivate me to finish?? #garment #district #newyork #nyc #sewcialist
Of course, I didn’t have the fabric with me. DOH!
Here is a better pic of them, together with the fabric.

WOMAN, PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN ONCE IN A WHILE!!

You were all so awesome in your thread selection and take it in, let it out advice. So, I’ll ask you, what do you think?
Blue-ish? Or, pewter-pearl-ish?
Consider this a #sewicialist community Archer! LOL

Pinterest Inspo :: Unexpected Brown

Today’s work look is quite unexpected and can be wholly credited to pinning things on Pinterest. I never thought I’d pair a black dress with black (opaque) tights. I NEVER thought I’d wear brown shoes again! And I CERTAINLY never thought I wear brown shoes with so much black!!

Furthermore, I never thought I’d like it so much!

What I Wore :: 1.15.13 Dress :: Old Navy Tights :: Duane Reade
Belt :: Gap

What I Wore :: 1.15.13

I bought this dress on sale at Old Navy. I’ve had approximately forever and this is the first time I’ve worn it.
It always felt a bit short. With these super opaque tights, I felt really comfy in it.

What I Wore :: 1.15.13

I think I bought this belt, along with 4 or 5 others, over 15 years ago. This brown matches almost nothing in my wardrobe because I’m not a huge fan of the color.

These boots might be changing that.

What I Wore :: 1.15.13

This look is not a literal translation of any one thing that I’ve pinned. But I can say, with certainty, that I would not have looked twice at footwear this color if not for the stylish ladies on my Me Style This Look board!

If This is The End

I’ll take it!! Because I had a GREAT day!

My grades are in. Two Bs, which killed my 4.o, but ended up being better than I anticipated given how I felt the semester was going. I never thought I’d say this, but thank God for finals! I got a 98 on my archival management one, which gave my overall grade a boost. And a hard won 82 (which FEELS like 100% given how difficult the subject is) for cataloging. Just one question (out of 8, total) on that exam was worth 60 points. Yikes!
GRADES :: GRAD SCHOOL IS OVER

Final Tally :: 10 As and 2 Bs. 3.83 GPA.
Not too shabby.

Also…I had another job interview today. I felt a bit more confident and ready this time, despite a near late arrival disaster. The bus I needed to take apparently only arrives once a decade. And I had just missed it. I grabbed a cab (thank goodness I remembered to take the cash from my jeans pocket last night) and made it in plenty of time.

No jump shot, today. Just me in my hallway.

But, I FEEL LIKE JUMPING!

Interview Ensemble Numero Dos

Before I even made it on the bus headed back towards home, I missed a call. I checked my voice mail and I had been offered the internship! One that pays, too!

And this time is not like the last one when I got my hopes up and had to miss out on an opportunity. This time, I start much sooner (in about 2 weeks), I know a lot more about the expected schedule and my children are well settled in their new schools.

I’m so excited! It’s a great opportunity to get library experience and I don’t even have to do it for free. On top of that, I feel really passionate about the work I’ll be doing and it’s in Brooklyn which will make managing around the rest of my life much easier.

All that’s left to do is some celebratory sewing to supplement my work wardrobe!!

Autumn Days in Summer

I’m not sure what’s happening, but here in NYC we’ve totally had fall weather smack dab in the middle of the summer. You won’t catch me complaining. I was ready for the cool down, but I could do without the rain. Anyway, the chilly morning air made it possible to wear a recently thrifted top that I was saving for the real fall that will show up before we know it.

Top :: Ann Taylor
Jeans & Shoes & Sweater :: Old Navy
Purse & Belt :: Forever21

Pics one and three taken by the girl twin ;o)

I got that Ann Taylor beauty for $4.00 from my favorite store, Domsey’s. Though, The Urban Jungle might give it a run for the money. Thanks to an Instagram exchange with Ms. Dear Golden herself, I am CERTAIN that the dark colored dress from yesterday’s post IS from the 1940s!! I doubt I’d find anything like that, there!

Hat :: Street Vendor
Dress :: DIY Refashion Thrifted skirt-to dress
Sandals :: Forver21
Purse :: Coach
Belt :: Thrifted

These pics were taken by the girl twin. She had the good photographer juju today. It’s about elventy billion degrees today, so this dress was pretty much a perfect choice for staying cool. I was glad to have the chance to wear my new belt. I got it from my favorite thrift store, Domsey’s, for $3.39 a while back.

But none of that matters right about now because look at what my best friend the UPS man just bought me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's here!!!

It was very difficult to hold myself back from hugging him, lol. He also bought some DJ equipment thingamajig for my husband and some (much needed, how much more will they GROW) clothes for the kiddies. So, basically, he made the whole house happy in one go.

We like him VERY much! Thanks UPS! Your employees are awesome!

We’ll always bet on BROWN, lol!
