EDITED TO ADD: CLEARLY, I need a calendar. Iz not May, today.
I wore this to my little kiddies music recital where, for a reason yet to be discovered, my oldest son didn’t get to play ;( Needless to say, I will get to the bottom of things and work out a replacement for his missed opportunity. The girl twin played parts of the Hot Cross Buns piano performance and the boy twin sang along with the rest of grade K. The overall event was really nice. The kids played and sang so well. I hate that it was ruined by whatever mix up resulted in some being left out.
I don’t want to feel too down. I had a great day yesterday (more awesome internship stuff) and I have to show them that little setbacks aren’t the end of the world. Right?
Anyway, this is what I wore:
Top :: Burda Style’s Lydia
Skirt :: The Janice Skirt (modified Simplicity 9823)
Socks & Tights :: F21 & H&M
Boots :: Anne Klein
This fun pic was taken inside the school where the recital was held. I wish I had taken more as this one was a bit blurry.
This sucky ass weather is threatening to throw off my MMM game. I need to work on making pants, if only to stay in the game! Lol.
There was someone feeling green in my family. I spoke too soon about that stomach bug being gone. Son#1 stayed home today. He beat the record for most up-chucks in a day
This is dressing for slightly bloated comfort ;o)
Sweater :: Old Navy
T shirt :: Old Navy
Jeans :: Forever21
Shoes :: Old Navy
Grinch Bag used to carry snacks/lunch/travel teacup/sometimes knitting :: Target ;o)
Time to dye that bleached section blue, again.
This look was also comfy for a quick garment district run to Pacific Trimming for Archer buttons.
Of course, I didn’t have the fabric with me. DOH!
Here is a better pic of them, together with the fabric.
And a picture I didn’t even realize I snapped! Lol
WOMAN, PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN ONCE IN A WHILE!!
You were all so awesome in your thread selection and take it in, let it out advice. So, I’ll ask you, what do you think?
Blue-ish? Or, pewter-pearl-ish?
Consider this a #sewicialist community Archer! LOL
These pictures are a more accurate representation of what I look like on a daily basis. This is what I look like “off duty”, when I’m not going to work, that is. Though, this is sometimes a work look, too ;o)
The girl twin asked to snap these on the way home from school.
Handmade Hat :: Felicity
Scarf :: Thrifted
Nine West Jacket :: Thrifted ($10!!)
Jeans :: Old Navy (Sweetheart fit)
Sneakers :: MIA via Marshalls ($40)
I’m wearing a Brooklyn College Film Department t-shirt (with the neck cut off) and my Sean John cardigan, underneath. It’s soooo warm! It’s also a perfect replacement for a million year-old Old Navy zip-up that is faded and thread bare in places. It always makes me laugh to see how my lips completely disappear without lipstick, lol
I really love these sneakers! I’m so glad I got them for me and my daughter. The jacket was a pretty great find, too. I also picked up a leather Benetton blazer that day for $10. These jeans are the Sweetheart fit from Old Navy. I must have lost a few lbs because these were practically squeezing the life out of me a couple weeks ago. That orange dress from the last post was also on the too small list.
Bodies can be so weird!
I only have to throw some steak in the oven for dinner tonight (I made a TON of chicken yesterday for my fried bird loving children) so that frees up some Archer sewing time. I hope to post about that, and some really cool podcasts/sites/people I’ve found recently, soon!
Dudes, I really hate snow.
The frigid temps did make for the perfect opportunity to wear this sweater I thrifted a million years ago.
Sweater :: Thrifted Express Design Studio

But you guys don’t care about that!! Or how nice my eye make-up was today.

You wanna know who won the patterns, of course! But, first, look at how my blue hair color has faded!
Okay, Okay. Here are the winners!!
These ladies all included AWESOME quotes!! And also happen to prefer Miss Kristiann’s patterns, soooooo, I’m gonna play Oprah and give the women what they’re asking for!!
And YOU get a VICTORY PATTERN, And YOU get a VICTORY PATTERN, And YOU get a VICTORY PATTERN!!
Grainline and Mimi G fans, fret not. I will do another giveaway soon!
Stay tuned for actual sewing content, I cut out my cropped jacket wearable muslin, and just got the new In Style which always makes me want to sew!
P&P Tee :: Brookish on Etsy
Jeans :: Old Navy
Belt :: Gap
Sneakers :: Mia via Marshalls ($30!!)
Wearing one of my fave tees!! And the first new sneakers I’ve had in a long time. I really like them!! Best part, I’m footwear twins with my big girl! I’m so pleased that she still likes to match with me ;o)
She wore the shirt she made with it, too. It was the same outfit I choose in my mind when I saw these! My GOD, she has grown up SO much since that picture!
I’m wearing a new lippy, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable in “Smitten”, in the pics above. I took these after we’d come home from dinner at my MIL’s house, it’s usually a bit darker than it looks here. I brought it home in a nice small-ish haul from Target the other day. I was looking for a winter coat (my Fu*#$ng zipper is BROKEN) in February. You know, when they start putting out spring stuff. It was such a harrowing experience, I needed a pick me up, lol
Apparently, I need a class in gel liner application. I had very comical raccoon eyes after my first attempt with that little ass brush. I’ll have plenty of time to practice if the coming storm shuts the city down….I’d better go grocery shopping in the morning.
It’s still Sew Grateful Week, so I’d like to say, again, how awesome you all are! You’ve been leaving me such lovely comments on my posts! I love to read what you write and I love all of the quotes and book suggestions coming in! I’m going to put them in a post after the contest is over. Speaking of which…
Don’t forget, you have until
Don’t you hate when your hair looks great and you have nowhere to go??
This was the night before work, when I untwisted my hair to braid it for the next day.
Of course, if I had untwisted it in the morning it never would have looked this good, lol
It ended up like this for the day. Not bad!
I was super comfy for work as I planned to go to Pacific Trimming beforehand and knew that would involve a bit of walking. I went to buy shoulder pads for my coat.
But I nearly had a commuter rage breakdown while on the Q train. Some clueless idiot in front of me thought he should have a backpack AND a HUGE shopping bag in the sardine can the train becomes at rush hour and an asshole behind me was still wearing her backpack.
I was sandwiched by fools.
And then the train stopped in the tunnel for 5 mins (which feels like 5 million) on a tilt, so I felt like I was going to fall over.
I’m smiling here because this was taken at the end of the workday. I arrived home to kids doing homework and I had cooked so much food this weekend that there was no need to make dinner.
Basically, a perfect evening.
Sweater :: Calvin Klein
Tunic :: Old Navy
Leggings :: Old Navy
Socks :: F21
Boots :: Target
And to make it sweeter look what my big girl wore to school today!! She likes it! She really likes it!
I’m participating in Debi’s Sew Grateful week.
Look for a giveaway later!
Start with a kinda hard to wear 80s throwback blouse.
Add a pullover.
And then a blazer.
unwearable shirt to kick ass accent.
Blazer :: F21
Pullover :: F21
Pink Silk Blouse :: Thrifted from Domsey’s
Jeans :: Old Navy
Shoes :: H&M
I bought that pink silk top from Domsey’s for $3.49 (probably, this is the normal price for their tops) quite a while ago. I was drawn in by the color and thought I could refashion it.
Like others in my “to refashion pile”, it sat there waiting for those pleats to be dealt with. And it sat there and sat there.
Until I found my style inspiration!
Lagelle’s Daily Dose
This translation is a little more literal than my last Inspired by Pinterest style post. But you can’t go wrong with layering. It turns out, I needed that extra warmth. It was FREEZING yesterday!!
But today was wonderful!
The weather and the company. I spent several lovely hours browsing and chatting with some sewing blogger celebs.
Can you guess where I was and who I was with?
Today’s work look is quite unexpected and can be wholly credited to pinning things on Pinterest. I never thought I’d pair a black dress with black (opaque) tights. I NEVER thought I’d wear brown shoes again! And I CERTAINLY never thought I wear brown shoes with so much black!!
Furthermore, I never thought I’d like it so much!
Dress :: Old Navy Tights :: Duane Reade
Belt :: Gap
Shoes :: Amazon.com
I bought this dress on sale at Old Navy. I’ve had approximately forever and this is the first time I’ve worn it.
It always felt a bit short. With these super opaque tights, I felt really comfy in it.
I think I bought this belt, along with 4 or 5 others, over 15 years ago. This brown matches almost nothing in my wardrobe because I’m not a huge fan of the color.
These boots might be changing that.
This look is not a literal translation of any one thing that I’ve pinned. But I can say, with certainty, that I would not have looked twice at footwear this color if not for the stylish ladies on my Me Style This Look board!
Pinterest Inspo :: Unexpected Brown
Mossimo Coat :: Thrifted from Domsey’s ($12)
Crocheted Scarf :: Handmade Gift
Jones of NY Cardigan :: Domsey’s ($6.39)
Michael Kors Tunic :: Domsey’s ($6.39)
H&M Pants :: Circa 2010
De Blossom Boots :: Amazon (DEAD comfy!!)
These boots might make me waver on my cheap shoe assertions from a couple days ago. These were only $40, are not real leather and the COMFIEST heels I’ve ever worn. In my life. I’m so glad I didn’t stick to my “no brown shoes” rule!! I have Pinterest to thank for swaying me from that opinion. I’ll be really sad when they reach the end of their cheap shoe shelf life. Hell, I’m tempted to get a couple pairs and store them for when that time arrives. I’m being completely serious.
I had a pretty great day. I got to see the inside of the new Barclays Center. For free. I took the kiddies and my teenage cousin to a college basketball game, there. It wasn’t the greatest. But, the weather was nice, we were out doing something and (luckily for me) I was with the five easiest to please young people in Brooklyn.
Bonus: I squeezed in a visit to my grandmother AND I found the perfect storm of location, lighting (nearly the best, this sweater is much brighter) and camera settings for indoor photos. Not a match for outdoor ones, but certainly better than some previous attempts!
I hope you all enjoyed your Saturday
I had such an unexpectedly good day!! The weather was beautiful! It was the first day of Saturday class for my oldest two. My son is always so anxious when he starts anything and my daughter can be equally as nervous. I dropped them off, after a pretty painless commute, and occupied the twins while we waited.
They frolicked and collected leaves and twigs. We sat and snacked. They climbed all over this monument while I knit. Perfect diversion.
Dress :: Banana Republic via Domsey’s
Tights :: Forever21
Shoes :: H&M
Bangles & Earrings :: From my sister
Bracelet & Rings :: From my hubby
Purse :: Express
We picked up the other two kiddies, who were BOTH wearing HUGE smiles when we arrived, and went to visit my grandma (who was back home from two days in the hospital). My sister gave me a bag of, mostly tangled, booty. These gems were tucked away in this small bag.
Those bracelets are unbelievable in person!! I love my sister ;p
After visiting with my maternal fam, we walked over to see my paternal grands. I know, I’m lucky that everyone is so close together. We only spent a little while there before my dad dropped us home. I always appreciate a ride home. Getting sleepy people, myself included, home on public transport is the hardest part of going out with all of the kids alone. The twins would have been asleep before the bus pulled off.
Once inside, they started a leaf rubbing project (everything is called a project in my house) after eating some snacks. They’ve been playing quietly since then. After dinner, I expect a deep sleep to fall over the entire place.
