Bienvenidos a mi casa, Frida!

I bought myself two Frida painting prints! They are 8×10, framed (behind glass) and were only $5 each! I love art school supply stores ;)

These two beauties will live in my room, I think.

Frieda y Diego Rivera

They had more the first time I saw them in the store. I want them all, in particular The Two Frida’s and What the Water Gave me. Elsa just posted about viewing The Two Frida’s in person!! This may be the only time in my life I wished to be from Cali. I would love the visit Casa Azul. One day…In the meantime, there are tons of books to read about Frida and this pretty calendar to get some prints of her work  on the cheap.

Do you have a favorite artist?

  1. Ooh, great addition! I love her. Other favorites are Lissitzky and Kandinsky. I sat in front of Matisse’s The Dance and cried it was so lovely in real life. Cindy Sherman, Robert Frank, Sally Mann… I could go on :)

  2. Oh, very cool. I love the Diego & Frida one and I love the green dress with red shawl she’s wearing in it. Living in California does have its perks sometimes…Neill and I went to Mexico City for our anniversary a few years ago (a pretty short trip) and got to see the Casa Azul. It was amazing and there was color, color everywhere! I hope you can get down there one day. My favorite artists are Rothko and Mondrian. I like squares. :)

    • I’m so jealous!! I’m going to get there one day!! I like Mondrian, too. And Klimt. And Monet. Well, I actually love museums and very rarely dislike anything in them (except sculptures, I am particular about them). But I don’t think I’ve ever been so affected like I am by Frida’s work.
