Well if I knew that my reward for years of hard work would be roasting in the sun for two hours I might not have looked forward to it so much It feels sort of unreal but very nice. After some initial “ohmygodwearegoingtobelate” hysteria we made it and I marched in feeling proud and excited and really F@#$(*G HOT. People were peeling of robes and jackets like the skin off a banana. All down and bouncy hairdos became pinned up sweat soaked messes. All fancy dresses become scrunched versions of their previous selves. But a good time was had by all.
Here’s a tip: Don’t plan to show off your knitting skills by wearing a shrug on a day that may be 90 degrees. Also don’t take pictures for your blog after sitting in 90+ degrees for several hours. Always take those pictures before. My head is cut off in that shot because I looked like those guys in Grand Central station spit shined my face like a pair of shoes.
Pattern: Two-toned shrug from Fitted Knits
Yarn: TLC Cotton Plus in cream, less than two skeins.
Needles: Denise size 8 and 6 (pattern uses size 5 but mine were in use)
Size: 17 inches across mid-back
Things were constantly coming out small so I went larger on purpose and it worked out well. I also like the ribbing on the size 6 needles too. I don’t care for super tight ribbing. It also helped immensely that I remembered to use larger needles to bind off. My BO rows are severely tight on my partially done Bulky mini cardi. Overall me likes Next up finishing Ms. Marigold and the start of something Wicked from Zephyr Style for my baby sis.
